I’ve just received an email from the Public Service Alliance of Canada stating that:
Last night, MPs voted to inscribe transgender and transsexual human rights into law. In a vote at Third Reading of 143-135, Parliament officially passed Bill C-389, which will add gender identity and gender expression as protected grounds of discrimination under the Canadian Human Rights Act and in federal hate crimes laws.
This is good news, in that it moves things a further step along. There’s only one major step left, and that is that the C-389 has to be passed by the Senate. The question is whether it will pass the Senate.
And that we don’t know. To read the entire email click here.
