I’ve got a story in the upcoming anthology ‘Terror by Gaslight’ which will be published in the autumn of 2013. John Manning posted the story order, mine is number 17, and is set in the early 20th century.

More Spam

This one is hilarious. The address line reads:

Australian Taxation Office <tax_refund@aqualyze.co.uk>

An Australian tax office with a UK email address? How droll. Then there’s the fact that I don’t live in Australia! The email says:

NOTICE OF TAX RETURN FOR YEAR 2012 I am sending this email to announce: After the last annual calculation of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax return of: $ 271.95

To receive your return, you need to complete the form.

I strongly suggest that everyone click on the link, and fill out the form with made up information. Do it two or three times. If three or four thousand people were to spam them back, it might kill their business model.

Software Upsets – Microsoft Windows and Writing

What do you do, when a friend complains that Microsoft Windows has stopped working. Again.

When you make the obvious suggestion, that possibly it isn’t a good idea to use Windows if it causes that many problems, you get screamed at. It’s too expensive to buy a Mac. It’s too expensive to switch to Linux (though all it costs is a blank CD-R or DVD-R).

Harassment and Writing

Fiction Writers are supposed to be slightly more intelligent than average. It takes a lot of effort, and thought, to build a plot, a setting, and characters. It also takes a lot of practice.

So why are certain writers acting, well, the best polite word I can come up with is, STUPID.
